About
From the first episode in March of ‘97 to the season finale in May of 2003, I have been a captivated fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. However, I have not always been comfortable admitting this; in fact, for a number of years, I was mostly a closet fan. Although Buffy ran for seven seasons, had a large following, its own comic book, and even has its own field of academic study (Buffyology), it has never been a ‘cool’ show to watch. Rather, it has been widely dismissed by those who could not look past its (admittedly) silly name. In this blog, I hope to establish why Buffy should be taken seriously: she represents an important shift in female role models and reinvents the identity of a gendered warrior-hero. I will attempt to prove this by looking closely at certain episodes, mapping character development in and between seasons, and by referring to a number of authors and articles related to ‘Buffyology.’

I’m super excited to find this blog- and always happy to find a fellow Buffy lover!
Me too. I’ve been looking for a dedicated Buffy Blog.
